Retrofitting in your (S)Semi AEG
We have many of our guns approved by the PTB as HPA with the required barrel lengths. This means that even models that have already been purchased can be converted to HPA and lasered by us at low cost. After the conversion, the weapon receives an adapted laser ring with the PTB number of the HPA approval. Is your (Semi AEG) available from us as an HPA and does it have an "F" from Begadi? Then nothing stands in the way of a conversion. Please contact ourworkshop at any time and we will send you an attractive offer as soon as possible. Please note: A conversion back to (Semi AEG) is no longer possible due to the changed approval. Existing internals: When converting to HPA, you will receive all original, removed parts back, e.g. Core EFCS, Motor, Gears, Cylinder group

Do you already own an Semi AEG from Begadi and would like to convert it to HPA? No problem!

The development of the HPA system
In 2021-2022, when the available HPA systems had already risen sharply in price, we decided to develop our own. This enabled us to develop an HPA system that meets our requirements and remains affordable for the player.

With such a large investment, there were some important points on the ToDo list that had to be implemented during development:

  • The system had to be compatible with many Gearboxes
  • It had to function fully mechanically in order to rule out defects in the electronics
  • Full mechanics made it possible to keep the system resistant to water and moisture
  • A fast trigger system with good control for a wide variety of weapons was required
  • The efficiency had to be comparable with currently available systems from other manufacturers
  • Reliable function when used with HPA and CO2 was required
  • To rule out problems with the Nozzle and HopUp, we rely on AEG Nozzles
  • Thanks to these measures, replacing the HopUp unit is also not a problem

We have successfully implemented the above requirements in our HPA engine

Production and high-quality material
As with all our developments, we do not save on the quality of the material or the manufacturing tolerance! The entire HPA system is CNC-machined with a tolerance of +/- 0.1 mm per component. This pays off in terms of the tightness and constant energy output of the system. We only use stainless steel for components subject to high stress. The cylinder unit and the body are made of 7075 aluminum, which has a significantly higher tensile strength than conventional 6061. For high efficiency and friction-free function inside, we manufacture the Piston from very robust POM. For the seals, we use commercially available and inexpensive O-rings. These have proven themselves in long-term tests. In order to optimize the pressure outlet, a special seal was developed in the front area of the engine. This automatically adjusts the seal to the pressure. The higher the pressure, the greater the contact pressure. If you need a replacement after the warranty period, we can of course offer you an inexpensive maintenance kit for servicing.

No electronics and therefore waterproof
Our HPA system works fully mechanically without electronic components. The system does not need to be preloaded. Simply connect the hose, insert the magazine and off you go. Even heavy rain, snowfall, dew or other moisture does NOT penetrate the HPA system. As you may have seen in the video above, it is even possible to put the gun completely under water without any loss of function. Note: Nevertheless, we strongly advise against exposing an airsoft to moisture unnecessarily. Even if the Begadi HPA system tolerates this without any problems, other components of the airsoft can rust and thus be damaged. Another advantage is the easy maintenance and repair of the mechanics after the warranty period. Should you ever need a spare part, we naturally have them in stock. Assembly is extremely simple

CNC Triggers Unit for many weapons
The Trigger Unit of the Airsoft is also completely CNC-machined and made of stainless steel and 7075 aluminum. In order to maximize the compatibility of our system, we have also developed Triggers for exotic weapons. We also offer P90, T21, SVD, Tommy Gun and many other models with the Begadi HPA system. Thanks to its purely mechanical design, the trigger system has a resistance that must be overcome, comparable to a match trigger. The trigger weight also depends on the set pressure. The trigger length is 6 mm and is backlash-free. In our promo and deep-dive video, we show you a comparison between our HPA trigger and AEG with Begadi-CORE EFCS. Please note: Our Trigger Unit is NOT compatible with conventional Speed Triggers! The Triggers are already set short on delivery. If you want a different shape of Triggers, we offer customized versions for V2 Gearboxes. These can always be found in the tuning selection of the respective weapon

Wide energy spectrum & high efficiency
During development, the possible energy and efficiency of a wide range of airsoft guns was carefully considered and optimized. Our final engine can be operated continuously at a pressure of 6 to 12 bar (87-175 PSI). Depending on barrel length and bullet weight, 0.6 to 3.0 joules (always depending on barrel length and bullet weight) are possible. Thanks to continuous improvements during development, we were also able to achieve very good efficiency with HPA and CO2. This is on a comparable level to other mechanical systems. If you would like more detailed information, we have filmed a chrono and efficiency test for you in our deep-dive video. With a 1.1L 4500 PSI Bottles approx. 3800 shots are possible at high energy. If the gun is operated with less energy, the efficiency increases

Closed Bolt with AEG Nozzle
Constant closed-bolt system without preload! Preferred by many players, we also rely on a closed-bolt system. In this case, the Nozzle is always in the foremost position. The next BB is preloaded into the HopUp unit immediately after firing. This means that this BB is already aligned in the HopUp rubber when the shot is released and does not have to be loaded first. Compared to open-bolt systems, this ensures a very constant energy output and a consistent HopUp effect. As a result, the first shot after inserting the magazine can be an empty shot, as the BB is fed into the HopUp unit AFTER the firing cycle. At the same time, during development we were able to arrange the system to fit standard AEG Nozzles and Cylinderheads. If you would like to install a different HopUp rubber or a different HopUp unit in your gun, the Nozzle length can be easily replaced without opening the engine (please note the warranty conditions). Where technically necessary, we deliver the engine with the Begadi PRO Cylinderhead and Nozzle with two O-rings already installed. Please refer to the offer page to find out which Cylinderhead and which Nozzle are installed in the respective firearm. For screwdrivers: Please note that the length of the Cylinderheads must fit exactly. If you use one that is too short without a Sorbo pad or shims, the energy may drop.

HPA or CO2!
A common problem is filling the HPA Bottles when there is no possibility in the area. We can help here too! Our HPA Engine is not only designed for HPA (compressed air), but also for the use of 425g CO2 cylinders. These CO2 cylinders are easy and inexpensive to obtain online or from the discount store around the corner and can be exchanged for a full one in many stores. Most people should be familiar with these cylinders from sparkling water devices. In order to offer you as a player maximum flexibility, we have been working on two new Regulators in parallel to our HPA system. These two Regulators "Hurricane" and "Taifun" can be operated with either a 200/300bar HPA Bottles or a 425g CO2 cylinder! Further information can be found on the corresponding product pages and in the videos below

- Begadi Hurricane HPA/CO2 Regulators
- Begadi Taifun HPA/CO2 Regulators

Long-term tests with over 120,000 shots (wear and tear)
In order to put our HPA system through its paces, it was tested with over 120,000 shots and disassembled/inspected several times. After this long test period, we can say the following about wear: All seals last 100,000 shots without major maintenance (see video below for details). Occasionally (approx. every 20,000 shots) spray some silicone oil into the air system to increase its stability (for more information and a video, see below). We still recommend replacing the rearmost O-ring on the flow tube after 100K shots. This still sealed in the test, but the surface showed slight wear. The Tappet Plates should also be checked every 50,000 shots. If a miss-feed occurs frequently due to bad or contaminated BBs, this can be damaged, as with an AEG. No wear was visible on any of the other components, so the engine is much more durable than an AEG or GBB. Of course, we offer all the necessary seals and spare parts at a reasonable price and a maintenance service via our workshop is also no problem

Maintenance & servicing
Our HPA Engine is very easy to maintain, even during the warranty period. Occasionally spray a small amount of silicone oil into the hose to increase the service life of the seals. Now connect your HPA Bottles or a CO2 cylinder and fire a few shots to distribute the oil inside the engine. We recommend holding a cloth in front of the Nozzle to catch any excess oil. Important! The lubricant should not get into the HopUp Unit. If you would like to carry out major maintenance (replacing the seals after the warranty period) yourself, we offer an inexpensive maintenance kit in the store. You can find instructions in the linked video. If your warranty has already expired, you don't have to worry about your system either. We have all engine parts available at short notice and at low cost! In this case, simply contact our support team.

PTB approval and barrel lengths
All our HPA weapons have PTB approval and are provided with the corresponding PTB number! You can download the approval from the respective weapon. As with all airsoft guns, we recommend that you carry the printed approval with you in your gun case.

Required accessories
A Regulators with hose and either an HPA Bottles or CO2 cylinder are required to start up the HPA system. When selecting the Regulators, ensure that the flow rate is sufficient. If this is too low, the energy can become inconsistent during rapid bursts of fire. To avoid this, we offer our Hurricane and Typhoon Regulators, which provide sufficient air in the required time. All energy specifications in our store were measured with our Regulators. If you use another manufacturer, we cannot guarantee this information. There is no limit to the choice of HPA Bottles. To have enough air for a day of play, you should choose at least 0.8L with 3000 PSI. If you need air for a whole weekend, we recommend a 1.1L Bottles with 4500 PSI this corresponds to approx. 3800 shots with a high energy (1.8 - 2.0 Joule).

Warranty
When purchasing a firearm with an installed HPA system, we offer the statutory 2-year warranty on the entire firearm including the HPA engine. This excludes damage caused by self-inflicted damage and improper handling. Make sure that your HPA Bottles are only filled with a compressor that has an air and water filter (water separator). Otherwise, dirt particles and water may collect in the Bottles, which could enter the engine when firing. If this is the case, the engine should be completely dismantled, cleaned and relubricated. The Gearbox and engine are sealed by us after a functional test. Damage or removal of these seals will invalidate the warranty. Do you have the necessary know-how and would you like to carry out major maintenance or replace the nozzle yourself? Then this is possible after creating a code. More information can be found HERE.

If you already have an (S)AEG from Begadi and wish to convert to HPA, the warranty period for the HPA system is 2 years after installation. For any problems with the weapon outside the HPA unit (sealed Gearbox with installed HPA Engine), the warranty period that started with the original purchase of the Semi AEG applies

Tuning & HopUp
All our HPA guns are delivered with built-in tuning! We only use a CNC-machined Cylinderheads with a matching Nozzle. The HopUp is already optimized for 0.25g - 0.32g BBs from delivery. We also install our in-house Begadi PRO HopUp rubber together with the matching Tensioner in weapons that do not yet offer a PRO HopUp. (Exception: HW4 Premium, here a Maple Leaf HopUp system is available)

FAQ & Support
Regulators:

Differences between the Hurricane and Typhoon Regulators:
The only difference between our two Regulators is their appearance. Technically, they are comparable. We have opted for two manufacturers here to prevent supply bottlenecks in the future.

Replace fitting and pressure relief valve:
The pressure relief valve and fitting of the Hurricane and Taifun Regulators have the identical thread and can therefore be swapped/turned with each other.

The pressure relief valve of the Regulator blows off when I unscrew it:
In this case, the pressure in the Regulators is set too high. Reduce the pressure before screwing the Regulator onto the Bottles

The fitting (plug connection) between the Regulators and the gun hisses slightly:
This can occur if the hose is turned frequently or the gun is held by the hose. This causes the fitting holder to cut into the hose.
Pull off the plug connection and shorten the hose by 5 - 10 mm. Then push the hose firmly back into the connector. When shortening the hose, ensure that the cut edge is straight

The Regulators are difficult to unscrew from the Bottles:
Reduce the pressure in the Regulators before removing it from the Bottles

HPA / CO2 system:

Missfeed/blowing off the air
As with an (Semi AEG), it is also important with our HPA system that the bullet weight used is compatible with your magazine. If you use BBs that are too heavy for your magazines, a misfeed may occur. (BB stuck between Nozzle and HopUp Unit) To prevent damage to the engine or tappet plate, the air in this situation is discharged to the outside or blown off. We also recommend using only high-quality and polished BBs. Low quality BBs often cause problems in different airsoft guns

To release the jam, briefly disconnect the hose and reconnect it.

If this occurs frequently, we recommend
1: Use lighter BBs in the corresponding magazine
2: Replace the magazine spring with a stronger one
3: Use the Begadi Mag-Guides in the magazine

Observe maximum pressure
Our HPA/CO2 engine is designed for 6 to 12 bar (87 - 175 PSI). Do not set the pressure higher under any circumstances! This could damage the seals and trigger mechanism. Damage caused by this is not covered by our warranty.

The trigger does not always release with rapid firing sequences
Please note that the trigger must always be fully reset and returned to its original position. If the trigger is not fully released, the next shot will be interrupted for safety reasons.

HopUp rubber and maximum bullet weight
We install our Begadi PRO FYL5 or (if necessary) SHP5 HopUp rubber at 60° in all our HPA guns. These are suitable for BBs with max. 0.36g @ 2.0 Joule. If you use a higher bullet weight (note magazine feeding), we recommend using our MAG5 or MHP5.

My energy is too low
Please refer to the table above. Our HPA guns are (depending on the barrel length) approx. 1 joule @ 6 bar (87 PSI) with 0.20g BBs - the bullet weight used and the current HopUp setting have an influence on the energy. We recommend measuring the energy with the HopUp set, as this is usually slightly higher.

Trigger weight
The trigger weight of a mechanical engine is always higher than that of an electro-pneumatic engine! The set pressure also plays a role here. (Trigger weight increases and decreases with the set pressure) If you expect a very light trigger, without resistance, as is the case with an (Semi AEG) with Begadi CORE, our HPA Engine is unfortunately not for you

We have measured the trigger pull weight of various guns for you and list the maximum values in the following table. The average values are correspondingly lower. This table also shows the influence of the trigger geometry (lever length of the trigger) and the trigger spring installed by the manufacturer
